Matt Sandburg

Matt was born and raised outside of Chicago, Illinois. He attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison where he received Bachelor Degrees in both Economics and Philosophy. Matt then attended the University of Miami School of Law where he maintained a Dean’s Merit Scholarship for all three years. A former prosecutor, Matt opened his criminal defense firm in 2011.
Matt has spent his entire professional career in Sarasota practicing Criminal Law, where he:
-Practices Criminal Defense/DUI in Sarasota, Venice, and Bradenton-Is licensed to practice in both Florida State Courts and Federal Court in the Middle District of Florida-Spent over five years as a Prosecutor here in Sarasota and over seventeen years practicing exclusively criminal law in Sarasota, Bradenton, and Venice.-Has prosecuted over one thousand cases in Sarasota, including hundreds of DUI and Drug Charges-Tried over 50 cases to jury, this including over 15 DUI Trials, 20 Felony Trials, as well as Trials of DUI Manslaughter and Second Degree Murder-Serves as volunteer judge for Sarasota Teen Court-Served as President for Sarasota Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (FACDL, Sarasota Chapter)-Served as board president of the Epilepsy Services of Southwest Florida-Served as Barrister for the John M. Scheb American Inn of Court
